註釋
Describes the experiences of the ca. 3,000 Jews in Karlsruhe under the Nazi regime, discussing the boycott of 1 April 1933, the arrest and murder of the Jewish Reichstag member Ludwig Marum, the expulsion of Jewish civil servants, lawyers and physicians, the Nuremberg Laws and the Aryanization of Jewish property. Gives a detailed account of the "Kristallnacht" pogrom, the burning of synagogues, the arrest of Jews, and their transport to Dachau. 2,000 Jews emigrated. About 450 of those remaining were deported in 1940, first to Gurs and from there to Auschwitz. The few remaining Jews, most of them married to Christians, suffered severe restrictions until their deportation in 1942. Includes a list of Jews from Karlsruhe murdered during the Holocaust (about 850).
