Jesse Appleton
註釋This series of letters from Jesse Appleton to Ebenezer Adams (1765-1841), long-time professor at Dartmouth College, reveal the preoccupations and thoughts of a young man concerning religion, love, politics, and education. Most of the letters are addressed to Adams while the latter was preceptor at Leceister Academy, while those of Appleton written from May 1796 through 1804 are dated from Hampton, N.H., where Appleton was settled as Congregational minister prior to accepting the presidency of Bowdoin.
