註釋General summary of work and conditions on the Old Trails Road in particular it can easily be seen that the 126 miles of the Santa Fe Trail from Kansas City to Boonville has had more work done upon it and is in much better condition than the 174 miles of the Boonslick Road part from Boonville to St. Louis. The hills remaining between Dover and Waverly are the only heavy grades and are the worst section of road on the Western Division (Santa Fe Trail). On the Eastern Division (Boonslick Road) are the heavy grades of southern Howard County : the bad section northwest of Rocheport ; the Rocheport gravel ; the Millersburg district in western Callaway County ; the West Mineola hills ; the the two miles in St. Louis County opposite St. Charles.
