註釋William Symes (b.ca. 1651/1652), son of Thomas Symes Sr. and Amy Bridges, immigrated from England to New Kent County, Virginia. Descendants (most of whom changed the surname to Sims in the mid-1700s) lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Missouri, Kansas, California, Washington and elsewhere.
