註釋The objective is to develop a tool for investigating boundary layers on vertical heated surfaces subjected to disturbances in the form of trips or transverse repeated ribs. In FY 1984 the interferometer was assembled and a test cell was designed to allow researchers to generate a boundary layer on a vertical wall of an enclosure filled with air. One problem with the optics arose--inadequate beam splitter optical quality. It is expected that beam splitters of adequate quality will be installed during FY 1985 and experiments will begin in the test cell.
