A.D. 1100. The items comprise not only manuscripts made in the British Isles, but also manuscripts imported to those islands during the early medieval period and there augmented with decoration, illustration , or both. ... The catalogue covers fifty-six manuscripts or fragments. ... The decoration and illustration, both original and added, range from embellished initials and diagrams to historiated initials and illustrations. ...
