Histoire d'un soldat Juif (1881-1915)
註釋This book (p. 15-80) by the Russian Jewish historian - first published in Russia in 1917 - relates the experience of a young Jewish soldier, typical of a whole generation of Russian Jewry. Traces the ordeal of Russian Jews from the 1881 pogroms through the Russo-Japanese war and the 1905 revolution to the First World War. Discusses antisemitic legislation, the numerus clausus, the antisemitic newspaper "Novoye Vremya", the Black Hundred, and Jewish self-defense groups. Mentions accusations against Jews of treason and expulsions from border areas during World War I. Pp. 81-122 contain a Constitutional-Democratic Party "Report on the Jewish Question", delivered by M. Vinaver in 1915 in Moscow denouncing wartime anti-Jewish measures and calling for civil rights and the recognition of the national culture of the Jews.
