The Evaluation of Treatment Programs for Male Batterers
註釋The Canada Corrections Branch has initiated a program of research on the effectiveness of treatment for male batterers. To obtain advice on promising directions for research, the Branch invited an international panel of experts to a symposium whose focus was on how to evaluate treatment programs. This document contains papers based on the talks and discussion at the experts' meeting. Some papers closely follow the talk given, while others have been extensively rewritten, in some cases in response to questions raised in the meeting itself. Topics covered in the papers include risk factors for domestic assault, clinical signs for assessing ongoing risk for violence in individual batterers, the role of treatment programs in cultural change, factors other than treatment programs that can cause positive change in batterers, and the history of treatment of male batterers. The appendix contains a literature review of quantitative research on men who batter.
