Turbulent Flow of Non-Newtonian Fluids
註釋The phenomenon of drag reduction in turbulent flow of solutions of fluids with long-chain molecules (polymers) is studied from the point of view that the effect is due solely to the non-newtonian variation of fluid shearing stress with strain, that is, variation of viscosity with strain. That the viscosity of the solvent is the essential physical property that controls the phenomenon is obtained from the direct effect of temperature. It is also shown that the commencement of turbulent friction reduction is essentially independent of the length of class of polymer, as well as concentration. (Author).
