From Machine-readable Dictionaries to Lexical Data Bases
註釋Abstract: "The work described in this paper presupposes the notion of a lexical database -- a highly structured isomorph of a published dictionary, available on-line for flexible querying both by people and systems. Such databases contain all the information available at source, with the structural relationships between components and fields within an entry explicitly identified and labelled. Lexical databases are typically derived automatically by suitable transduction of the typesetting tapes, which are a by-product of producing the published forms of dictionaries, and which are the conventional way of making such dictionaries available in a machine-readable form
