Time for Alexander
註釋What I didn't know, was that I was about to be kidnapped and stranded in 330 BC! Kidnapped by Alexander the Great and made into his concubine! What will my mother think? Well, whatever she'll think, it won't be for another three thousand years. In the meantime, I have to get used to getting up at dawn to the sound of trumpets and elephants, and somehow accept the idea that coffee and chocolate are no longer part of my world. The only nightlife around here is bats, and the army isn't the most peaceful place. For some reason, the soldiers think I can cure their arrow wounds. It's all because of a silly misunderstanding - Alexander thought I was Persephone, goddess of the dead, and kidnapped me. He then proceeded to tell everyone. That's fine by me - I'm incognito. If I change history, I get erased by the powerful Time Senders, the scientists who sent me back here in the first place. How did that happen? I studied in the Time-Technology Institute. I graduated with honors. I won a prestigeous award and I chose to interview Alexander the Great. He followed me when I left to take the time-tractor beam, and when he saw the icy, blue light envelope my body, he thought it was Hades' Minions taking me back to Hades, king of the underworld. And like any Greek educated hero-wannabe, he was determined to save me. So he wrenched me from the time-tractor beam, and the rest, as they say, is history. Now I'm stuck in 330 BC. My cell phone doesn't work, I can't find any decent shampoo, and there are no shopping malls or internet cafes. Luckily, Alexander is a fascinating man, and as long as I'm careful not to appear in the history scrolls, I'll be fine. It could be worse, I suppose. My mother-in-law, Olympius, could be here with us...
