註釋The standard of living is low for the majority of people in developingcountries. Absolute poverty results in severe human suffering among many of these people. Continuation of a situation in which a large proportion of the world population lives near the absolute subsistence minimum where at the same time the standard of living is very high for a small minority - whether it is found within the individual developing country or among different ountries - is unacceptable from a humanitarian point of view. Such a situation also constrains economic growth andis politically in the long run.
