It then provides technical details on the environmental occurrence & concentrations of selenium in natural & man-made sources & residues, the environmental fate & persistence of selenium, bioaccumulation & biomagnification of selenium, and biological effects. The final sections present information on toxic effects of selenium, summaries of existing water quality guidelines, and recommended water quality guidelines along with their rationale, with regard to: raw water for drinking water supply; recreational water & aesthetics; water to support aquatic life & wildlife; irrigation water; water for livestock; and industrial water supplies.
