註釋Major work on Pedro Figari (b. Uruguay 1861-1938) life and art, presented in chronological order. Figari, a remarkable figure in the art history of Latin America, was also a practicing lawyer, legal scholar, journalist, educator, art theoretician, and a figure in Uruguay's civic life. He expressed his own thoughts about Uruguay in his paintings portraying a wide range of subjects related to the traditions and customs of the Rio de la Plata region: landscapes, interiors of colonial patios, folk dances of African origin, fashionable salons, socio-historical topics, country women, horses and gaucho.
