註釋This thesis is primarily about the use of bamboo in house construction. I have attempted to develop a structural scheme in which bamboo could be used successfully in this country. We need to discover new ways in which to build houses and for these homes to conserve energy and resources much more than they currently do. This thesis project is one such way that will accomplish these goals. The I-gro house uses materials wisely, collects solar radiation, and makes use of a new construction scheme. Connection joints have been developed in this thesis to further enhance the use of bamboo as a sophisticated building material. If bamboo were to to be used in mainstream construction in the United States, then it would definitely lessen our dependence on energy and resources since bamboo takes very little time to grow and harvest and can be re-grown from the same root system from which it came.
