註釋This paper reviews the different types of fiber optic cables and related hardware used by Canadian utilities for telecommunications purposes and discusses the results of a survey of utilities, consultants, and hardware suppliers. The survey examined the types of fiber optic cable installations and hardware used, design loading conditions encountered, hardware procurement practices, installation requirements, vibration control methods used, service experience, current knowledge of fiber optic hardware, whether the utilities had their own technical specifications, and attitudes toward cable and hardware standardization.
