註釋Many of the engineers behind the development of Victorian engineering died after 1900. This book seeks to bring together the obituaries of these and of the younger generation of engineers who joined the rapidly increasing ranks of the profession. Around 4,700 engineers are covered. The entry for each engineer gives his dates where known, the acronym of each periodical containing an obituary and the volume number or year of the periodical followed by the page number(s).
