註釋
"During the Great War of 1914-1919 [sic], the Tenth Canadian Infantry Battalion acquired a reputation for excellence. [...] Nicknamed the 'Fighting Tenth,' the Battalion took part in every major Canadian battle of the war: Festubert, Mount Sorrel, the Somme, Vimy Ridge, Arleux, Hill 70, Passchendaele, Amiens, the Drocourt-Queant Line, and the Canal du Nord. In the process, the Battalion won two Victoria Crosses, along with a host of other decorations for bravery, including eighteen DSOs, sixty-four MCs, sixty-seven DCMs, and 289 MMs. But the cost was high. In the course of the war, 5390 men from all parts of Canada served in the unit; 85 per cent became casualties. Despite the heavy losses, the Battalion displayed remarkable power of recovery."--Inside dust jacket cover.
