14th Annual Conference for Australasian Association for Engineering Education and 9th Annual Women in Engineering Forum
註釋There are dual themes in the AAEE conference: the many challenges facing engineering educators in their professional lives; and the increasing need for a focus on issues of sustainability in engineering practice. The number of students opting for a career in engineering continues to decline. Lower government funding of higher education in an era of rapid technological change makes it increasingly difficult to maintain and update specialist laboratories and provide student/teacher ratios conducive to good pedagogical outcomes. There are also social and professional pressures for engineering professionals to address issues of sustainability at local, national and international levels. These factors have profound effects on engineering education, posing challenges for all to continually update curricula and pedagogy so that educators might produce graduates capable of constant adaptation and growth.
