註釋
In 1992, before the Internet was widely available, a terrorist organisation blew up a Norwegian whaling ship, moored at Stamsund in the Lofoten Islands. Shortly afterwards, officials at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Oslo received an unidentified fax message threatening to kill the Norwegian Fisheries Minister if the government's whaling policy is not abandoned within a week. This blackmail is perpetrated by Repna, a pseudonym for Lee J. Roberts, an American animal rights fanatic living in Miami. By using a laptop computer with an internal fax card and plugging it into telephone sockets at different motel rooms, he ensures that the fax message is untraceable - until police call in Paul Halvorsen, an expert in international terrorism from Bergen. He arrives at Kripos Polis headquarters just as two assassins directed by Repna are homing in on their respective targets. When no change in government policy has been declared by the first deadline, the first assassin kills the Fisheries Minister. As he escapes, a second warning arrives - this time announcing that the Prime Minister is next on the list. Based on true events, Sam Hall weaves a meticulously researched story of fanaticism, obsession and dogged determination that is both nail-biting and impossible to put down until the very last page.
