[Abstract] This thesis has examined the question "What is the experience of the child within?" using a heuristic conceptual framework. This was accomplished using personal interviews with 10 carefully selected co-researchers who have experienced this phenomenon. The concept of the child within is not new, but after having done an extensive literature review which began at birth and went through the developmental stages as reported by Erik Erikson, as well doing research into co-dependent behavior, I found no research had been done in a subjective manner. Therefore, this research project has examined the child within subjectively and found that the "bottom line" an acceptance of who we are, as we are, and having been given unconditional love are processes that go on throughout our life (time) and have their beginnings with birth.
