The history was written for the Jubilee of the Friends in Council in 1948 and bound in its present form by Edith Dew in 1962. The Friends in Council originates from 1898. Initially they were one of the coteries of the Order of the Daughters of the Court. They endeavoured to raise the tone of Society by checking idle gossip and doing kindly deeds.
