The Tannhauser Contingency
註釋Secretly sailing from Danzig under the guns of the advancing Red Army, U-491 makes her way to a position off the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where her top secret cargo will be transferred to a neutral ship. Fate, in the form of a U.S. Navy Catalina seaplane, intervenes, and the U-boat is sunk, taking her secrets with her. Only one man survives--one more than aboard the Catalina, which crashes on landing. Years later, a charter boat captain discovers the wreck of the U-boat. From that point on, things start to get complicated. A beautiful FBI agent, partnered with an ex-KGB officer, arrives in town. An archaeologist (and ex-CIA officer) also becomes embroiled in the murderous plot, which is further complicated by the Russian Mafia, which has a special interest in the U-boat's secret cargo.
