William Hill Papers
註釋Correspondence between the Hill brothers: William, who lived in Abbeville, South Carolina, and David and John who lived in Ballyboby [possibly Ballybofey], Ireland. In a letter, 1872 March 7, William talks about going into partnership in a mercantile firm and complaining of "the uncertainty of labor" and 1883 April 7 John writes about the death of their brother David "The doctor said that his liver was ale wrong and he became quite yeleow loking before he died." Other letters contain family affairs, election as Judge of the Court of Ordinary for Abbeville District, his son John in the Mexican War, purchasing a home, comparing the cost of education in the two countries, commenting on the Crimean War, introducing his son Robert Emmet Hill, economic conditions in South Carolina, the Negro and his freedom and race relations. William's daughter in law, Talulah Riley Hill writes to her son, Willie, 1909 May 23, about people and events in Abbeville.
