註釋In response to findings of a study of health & environmental impacts of air pollution in the Greater Montreal area which identified wood heating as one of the major sources of air pollution in the region, a sampling program was conducted in winter 1998-99 to assess the impact of residential wood burning in Rivière-des-Prairies. This report describes & presents findings of that program. Sampling materials & methods are described and results are presented & analyzed with regard to: levels & sources of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH); fine particulate matter (PM) & factors affecting observed concentrations; the relationship between PAH & PM values; metals; and volatile organic compounds. Finally, recommendations are made to improve understanding of the issues surrounding wood combustion.
