註釋The Livelihood status of farmers is quite pitiable in Vidarbha in Maharashtra state as extreme reliance on agriculture has worsened the situation. Farmers commit suicide due to their inability to repay loans mostly taken from banks to purchase expensive seeds and fertilizers. This motivates the author to start a venture to create a sustainable livelihood for the farmer, with the skill they have i.e., farming. Bamboo has potential both as an environmentally preferred material and means of employment generation. For the sustainable livelihood of farmers small-scale industries can be set up for the construction of bamboo reinforced concrete manhole cover. Bamboo is a naturally available resource in the Vidarbha in Maharashtra State. It can be used as an alternative to steel in a reinforced concrete manhole cover. Literature reveals that in recent years, steel prices have soared so replacement of steel reinforcement with alternative material is gaining immense importance. Bamboo is an alternative material for steel, which will have a tremendous economic advantage. The broad objective of this paper is to provide a preliminary contribution toward the sustainable livelihood of farmers through small scale bamboo reinforced concrete manhole cover construction industry with bamboo as an alternative to steel
