註釋Charles Sanders Peirce was an American philosopher, logician, mathematician, and scientist sometimes known as "the father of pragmatism," and respected for his contributions to logic, mathematics, philosophy, scientific methodology, and semiotics. This first volume dedicated to his thoughts on mathematics is composed of outlines and partially completed manuscripts of arithmetic texts (most of which were never published); works on the binary number system and its development; and miscellaneous notes treating number theory. The appendices supplement the works on arithmetic.
