Journals from geological travels in Europe
註釋Set of 20 journals (housed in 16 volumes) kept by Louis-Benjamin Fleuriau de Bellevue on his travels throughout Europe between 1788-1792. The journals record his geological expeditions and observations during this time as well as his visits to famous sights and museums. The majority of the journals document time in Italy, though he also spent time in the French, Swiss and Austrian Alps. Throughout his journey, he sent samples of rocks and minerals back to his mother in La Rochelle, France, where they are still housed. During part of his journey in the Tyrol, he was joined by his friend Déodat de Dolomieu, for whom the Dolomites are named.
