Scouring has long been a problem facing engineers. The engineer has had to resort to empirical rules and engineering judgement to arrive at some estimate of the scour conditions that will affect the stability of a channel or structure. The purpose of this thesis is to develop a new test which would provide a valuable tool in the study of the scour of cohesive soils.
