Cyclobutarenes
註釋The aim of this book is to present a unified review of the chemistry of aromatic compounds containing one or more fused cyclobutadienoid rings. The rapid growth in research, coupled with the development of the concept of antiaromaticity, makes this a propitious moment for an assessment of the state-of-the-art. The first chapter, describing the history, structures, and physical properties of the cyclobutarenes, is designed as an introduction for the aspiring student. The remaining chapters cover the syntheses and chemical behaviour of benzocyclobutene and the biphenylenes in turn, with an emphasis on developments during the last two decades. Although the book has been written with a specialist in mind, it should also interest a wider graduate and advanced undergraduate audience.
