Wood documents fully both his short naval service and his distinguished military career. This edition of the memoirs includes the two volumes in a single book. Volume 1 covers Wood s family background and spans the period up to 1878.Volume 2 continues from 1878 and ends with his appointment, in 1903, as a Field Marshal.
