Compiled genealogical data on the Garfield family. Record provides genealogical data from immigrant Edward Garfield through Benjamin Garfield (1643-1717), Thomas Garfield (1680-1752), Samuel (1720-1792), Joseph Garfield (1758-1836), to Joseph Garfield (1806-1876). Internal evidence indicates that the record was produced for George Frederick Putnam (1888- ), son of George Austin Putnam (1848- ) and Jane Stearns (Garfield) Putnam (1852- ). Jane was a daughter of Joseph Garfield. The last entry recorded by James F.D. Garfield in the original blue ink is dated 1909. There are additions written in pencil for events in 1912. Included in the record between pages 82-83 are loose newspaper clippings (James Garfield obituary, Theresa Garfield obituary; Edward E Kittredge article, and Harry Augustus Garfield article), will of Esther J. Garfield (1902), and handritten genealogical notes.
