註釋CARPENTRY AND JOINERY FOR AMATEURS, 1879, by James Lukin, provides "Full descriptions of the various tools required in the above arts, together with practical instructions for their use." In addition to discussing the use of hand tools such as planes, saws, chisels and measuring devices, Lukin describes the making of various basic items of furniture for the country house. Lukin, one of the most popular authors for the amateur mechanic of the nineteenth century, wrote extensively in both books and journal articles on the subjects of woodworking, wood turning, steam, mechanics and related topics. His many books remained in print for more than three decades.
