註釋This seasonal idea/activity book for grades 1-6 features interesting facts on the origins of traditions and customs of spring and summer festivals from around the world. There are numerous hands-on art activities, a map of each country or continent of the activity's origin, and a brief explanation of each tradition. Areas and countries of the world include: (1) Africa (Egypt, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Burkina Faso); (2) Antarctica; (3) Asia (India, Japan, China, Korea, and Malaysia); (4) Australia; (5) Europe (Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Iceland, and Ireland); (6) North America (Mexico and the United States); and (7) South America (Peru, Venezuela, Chile, and El Salvador). A section called "Around the World" focuses on St. Patrick's Day, Easter, April Fool's Day, Passover, May Day, and Independence and Flag Days. A 13-item bibliography concludes the book. (EH)
