註釋Canada's current exercise in changing the Constitution is reaching a critical stage. Decisions made during 1992 could be fundamental for the future of Canada. It is therefore important to look back at the last attempt at constitutional change, the Meech Lake Accord, to see why it failed and see what lessons can be drawn from it for the current round. This document discusses symbols in constitutional change, constitutional change as a political process, change and intergroup conflict, the failure to reconcile the irreconcilable, and lessons from the Meech Lake process.
