A collection of articles by Kahan (Vilnius, 1920 - Chicago, 1982), in English and in Yiddish, and articles in memory of Kahan, in Yiddish. Kahan was active in the Bund. Includes articles about economic and social issues of the Jewish people, the Jewish labor movement in various countries (including the Bund), YIVO, the Jewish community of Vilnius, and the Holocaust period. The essay "A Day in the Ghetto" (pp. 18-35) relates to the ghettos of Warsaw and Lodz during the Nazi occupation. It deals with the German administration and organization of the two ghettos, the daily routine and conditions in the ghettos, and differences between the two ghettos.
