The compendium contains the keys to the trematodes included in the first twenty volumes of Trematody Zhivotnykh i Cheloveka (Trematodes of Animals and Man) published during the period 1947-1962 by the USSR Academy of Science. These volumes encompass the world literature, are compilatory rather than critical, and present the taxonomic system devised by Academician K.I. Skrjabin and his collaborators. Four additional volumes are scheduled.
