The data for this study, divided into two stages, were drawn from the records of The American College Testing Program. Stage I examined current methods of GPA prediction using an eight variable multiple linear regression equation consisting of the four ACT test scores and four self-reported high school grades. GPA predictions were cross-validated against earned GPAs for 107,059 freshmen at 223 institutions in 1977. The findings indicate that the predictions were most accurate for freshmen age 17-19, and
