註釋Delusional u201cmale uterusu201d formation in a case of pseudocyesis in a male: a case report Couvade syndrome or u201csympathetic pregnancyu201d is defined as a range of symptoms presented in men during their partner's pregnancies. They usually involve a form of physical symptoms related to pregnancy such as weight gain, nausea and abdominal pain.Pseudocyesis is a loosely defined female condition in which the patient has signs and symptoms of pregnancy except for the confirmation of the presence of a fetus. The condition is nowadays almost impossible to distinguish from secondary delusional pregnancy as the advent of antipsychotic use has brought an increase of metabolic syndrome presenting an opportunity for the delusion to form.Although extensive reports on the Couvade syndrome and its female counterpart pseudocyesis exist, reports of male delusional pregnancy/pseudocyesis are extremely rare.Our report describes a unique case of delusional pregnancy/pseudocyesis in a highly educated male with chronic schizophrenia involving gender identity distortion also leading to the formation of a delusional concept/neologism of possessing a male uterus, formed from his prostate. The case report also discusses course of symptoms, common comorbidities and the possible impact the contemporary reshaping of traditional gender identities could have on patients experiencing psychotic disorders of self.
