In "--Beggars would ride" a Cambodian-American teenager returns to his roots to help the spirit of his dying grandmother. When Phnom Penh is evacuated he must survive on his own while a close friend chooses to follow the Khmer Rouge. "Tuyet An" is the girl of Tony's dreams, which he only fully realizes after his tour of duty in Vietnam. He returns to the region after Saigon falls trying to find her and bring her home. And in "Barrel of a Gun" the leaders of the Khmer Rouge are marked for death at the hands of a Cambodian-American sniper seeking revenge for the death of his family members. He becomes a scapegoat for shadow leaders of the Cambodian government who fear exposure in UN tribunals
