註釋This document is part of a national project known as Abuse Prevention in Long-Term Care. The project focussed on improving the life of older adults in long-term care by approaching the issues of abuse and neglect from their perspective. The project raised questions about perceptions and accepted practices in long-term care, based on the experiences of residents, staff, families, volunteers and advocates from across the country. This document describes a resident-centred approach to long-term care, and describes the social, physical and organizational factors that are key to a supportive and respectful environment.
