On Emerson and Other Essays
註釋Excerpt from On Emerson and Other Essays

The three essays contained in this volume have for the first time been brought together for English readers. The one on Emerson has served its purpose as a preface to seven essays of Emerson, translated by Mlle. Mali, who took the pseudonym of I. Will. The other two were originally intended and were used as introductions to extensive selections made and translated by M. Maeterlinck from the works of Ruysbroeck and Novalis. In amended form, the three essays may be found in the French edition of "The Treasure of the Humble."

At his simplest, it is not an easy matter to translate Maeterlinck.
