Noticias relativas al estado de las Yslas Filipinas en el año de 1810
註釋An abridged version of Tomás de Comyn's Estado de las islas Filipinas en 1810, probably from around 1810, describing the status of the Philippine economy in 1810. Comyn, an agent for the Compañía de Filipinas, divides his study into sections on population, agricultural production, minerals, industry, principally textiles, and ownership of farms and landed estates. There is also a brief history of the Real Compañía de Filipinas, founded in 1785 to develop commerce between Asia and America and Europe, and to stimulate growth of industry in the Philippines; and an analysis of sources of treasury revenues such as the state monopoly on tobacco, coconut wine and "nipa," betel, playing cards, cockfighting, and stamped paper; and "diezmos" or tithes. The first folded table contains population figures by province for "yndios" and mestizos, and comparative statistics for the years 1791 and 1810; the second one is a general balance sheet, based on figures for 1809, showing major government expenditures, revenues, and the current balance on hand. The author also discusses problems in the civil administration; ecclesiastical jurisdictions and dioceses; and the need to eliminate the Moro pirates on the islands of Mindanao, Basilán, and Joló.
