註釋 A malaria vaccine that elicits antigen-specific T-cell responses against pre-erythrocytic antigens of Plasmodium falciparum would prevent the development of clinical symptoms and the transmission of malaria. The liver stage-specific antigen-1 (LSA-1) is one of the potential candidates for such an epitope-based malaria vaccine and 5 T-cell epitopes have been identified on LSA-1 which are restricted by common human leucocyte antigen (HLA) molecules. The current study was aimed at investigating whether polymorphisms exist within these T-cell epiyopes among P. falciparum field isolates. Initial work as therefore directed at designing PCR primers which would enable DNA sequencing of regions encompassing the 5 T-cell epitopes of LSA-1.
