Inside Jobs
註釋These eight stories all focus on characters struggling to find adequate responses to events which threaten to overwhelm them. In each of the stories there's a breach or gap that the characters are trying to understand or come to terms with or (occasionally) fill. Often their efforts are misguided or insufficient; sometimes more harm is done than good. Yet I find something admirable in each of these attempts to rise to the challenge of events, and not simply submit to circumstances. The stories all date from the years 1983 and 1984. Many have benifited from the comments and criticism of the Creative Writing faculty of Syracuse University.
