The Season of Lost Children can be enjoyed on its own, but was also written as part of The Fenston Trilogy,  in which Blomain planned to trace fifty years of the interwoven lives and friendship of three women in a bucolic Pennsylvania college town. While The Season of Lost Children focuses on the life of the eccentric former nun, Eleanor Roderi, the first novel in the planned trilogy, A Trick of Light, chronicles the heartbreaking discovery and redemption of Hattie Darling, the only daughter of the town's first family.
