L'affaire Dreyfus nella stampa cattolica italiana
註釋States that, besides the question of the guilt or innocence of Captain Dreyfus, the Catholic press in Italy held almost unanimously that the Affair was the expression of an anti-patriotic and anti-Catholic conspiracy of Jews, Masons, Protestants, Anarchists, and Socialists, as well as proof of the excessive power acquired by Jews thanks to emancipation. Through the use of traditional anti-Jewish stereotypes, the Church attempted to regain a lost consensus in a society strongly influenced by liberalism and anti-clericalism.
