註釋Each Had Their Reasons is historical fiction in two sections. Volume one follows five ancestors who fought in the eastern theatre of the American Civil War. They represented both the Union and Confederacy and fought in the major battles from 1861 through the surrender at Appomattox in 1865. Characters played key roles at Sharpsburg (Antietam), Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. The story intertwines their war efforts with the stories of their families a home.Volume two follows seven additional ancestors in the western theatre of the War from the pre-war period through the surrender in North Carolina. It includes those at home in booth the North and the South. The story is based on the historical records of service as well as the records of the battles. The entirety gives one an understanding of the American Civil War from the perspectives of soldiers who fought for may different reasons.
