City of Man
註釋"City of Man tells the story of August (Gus) DIesel, an isolated, cynical New York City taxi driver whose life changes when his brother David hangs himself in the basement of his home. David, a wealthy, over-achieving banker in Boston who had been suffering from a spiritual crisis, left behind his wife Sandra and daughter Nicky. Gus soon finds himself not only feeling protective of Sandra and Nicky, but also becoming suspicious of the suicide and unable to accept the fact that his brother would take his own life. As a result, Gus begins his own investigation into the circumstances leading up to David's death. He learns that David was preparing to abandon his banking life and take his family to work in a Catholic mission in Latin America to devote their lives to serving God. He also learns that the mission, unbeknownst to David, was a front for criminal activity. As he learns more about what really happened to his brother, Gus begins to fear for his own life until a final confrontation with the truth. Through this process, Gus not only honors his brother, but also learns to let down his emotional walls and connect with others, and with the world around him."--Leaf iii.
