註釋
The era of World War II and Nazi-occupation in Europe has been studied from a multitude of different angles. Often neglected is the bottom-up approach, focusing on the local level. Nevertheless, it was there that the confrontation between the (mostly German) occupiers and the occupied population became manifest. Focusing on wartime local experiences, this volume aims to address the following questions: How did the occupier organize its collaboration with local and regional authorities? What tasks did local and regional administrations have to perform? What consequences did different local arrangements have? What was the influence of various ideological choices at the local level?
This volume collects contributions on countries as diverse as Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Greece, Belarus, and the Ukraine. Whilst presenting the most up to date research available, this book also serves as an invitation to further study in this hitherto barely explored field.
